Civil Engineering Representative

Noah Mathi

As Civil rep, I will strive to make Lassonde a better place for all students. I will strengthen LES’s relationship with civil clubs like CEL and GNCTR and fight for more funding for them because they are important parts of our engineering culture. Also, I will foster relationships with civil faculty and work with them to improve our courses and fight for student success. In Congress I will be running for Prime Minister, where I will work closely with the Dean and Prof. Jadidi to make sure that first year provides a strong foundation for the rest of our Lassonde careers. As well, I will write policies and Acts that ensure that our government is set up efficiently and in the way that best serves our constituents.

Software Engineering Representative

Edson Takei

Hi Everyone!

My name is Edson Takei and I am a third year Software Engineering Student at Lassonde.

With elections right around the corner, I am excited to announce that I am running for Software Rep. at LES for the year of 2025/2026.

A bit about me, I am an international student from Brazil passionate about Software Engineering. I have been with LES since 2023 having held the position of International Rep at the Academic Committee in 2023/2024 and the position of Software Engineering Rep in 2024/2025. If elected, I have numerous goals I want to continue pursuing. Here are some of the key areas I plan to focus on:

💻 Increase Software Eng. participation at conferences

💻 Increase Student Participation in committees

💻 Assist students in building their resumes through workshops and software engineering competitions

💻 Share opportunities with Software Eng students based on my previous experiences

💻 Assist students in looking for and securing research positions

Space Engineering Representative

Riyaz Alli

As a third-year Space Engineering student, I understand that our program isn’t the largest at our school, but that doesn’t mean our voices should be overlooked. If elected as your Space Representative, I will work to increase our visibility, strengthen our classrooms, and ensure that our concerns are heard.

I also believe in promoting Space Engineering within the wider engineering community, making sure our achievements and projects get the spotlight they deserve. Through stronger outreach and collaboration, we can build a more connected, supportive, and dynamic environment for all Space students.

I want to promote more engagement for Space students. This could be through networking events, workshops and collaboration with other engineering disciplines. By pushing for more connections, hands-on opportunities, and better faculty communication, I will help ensure that we get the recognition and resources we deserve.

Let’s work together to make our program stronger, more engaged, and better recognized. Vote for me as your Space Representative!

Computer Engineering Representative

Shayan Akbarloyshabgahi

Hello, fellow Lassonde Engineers,

I’m Shayan, and I'm eager to serve as your Computer Engineering Representative. As a committed member of our community at York University's Lassonde School of Engineering, I deeply understand the specific challenges and opportunities we face in our academic journey.

My goal as your representative is to enhance our learning environment by ensuring that every student has access to the necessary resources and support systems to succeed. I plan to focus on improving the availability of up-to-date software and lab equipment, fostering stronger connections through organized study groups and peer mentoring, and enhancing our professional development through increased engagement with industry experts.

By voting for me, you are choosing to prioritize a proactive approach to our education and community engagement. Together, we can create a supportive and enriching experience that prepares us not just to meet but to exceed our potential.

Thank you for considering my candidacy. Let's work together to elevate our program to new heights!

Ailiya Jafri

As Computer Engineering representative, I would do numerous things to help the students in the major. As the field for computer engineering can be very broad, I would plan programs for students to be informed on the possible streams they may enter such as software development or embedded systems. I would collaborate with club leaders and plan events together, or promote events already running. I think community is a really important aspect of learning, so I would endeavor to create a pool of resources for major-specific courses, in order to assist students taking them. Along with the aforementioned, I have a variety of ideas I think will be useful for all prospective Computer Engineers.

Electrical Engineering Representative

Jad Hibri

As your Electrical Engineering Representative, I will advocate for more summer course offerings and flexible scheduling options to help students stay on track and balance their commitments. I will push for better access to hands-on learning, stronger industry connections, and improved lab resources. Your voice matters, and I am committed to ensuring our program supports your academic and career goals. Vote for me, and let’s work together to make Electrical Engineering at York more accessible, practical, and rewarding

Aallyah Hall

“To be represented is to be acknowledged, to exist in the world with others who see you and value you.” These very impactful words, spoken by the Nigerian American writer, Nnedi Okorafor, has fueled my decision to apply for the Electrical Engineering Representative role at LES. I wholeheartedly believe in inclusion in every community. Many students here at Lassonde have valuable ideas but are crippled by the thought of using their own voice. With my engaging personality and very high attentiveness, I intend to break that barrier by being the middleman between their thoughts and our faculty. Additionally, I see this as the perfect opportunity for me to build my communication, time-management and leadership skills. I am eager to be more involved, learn more about LES and join your amazing team. Thank you so much for considering my application!

Student Life Board At-Large

Ka Wah Chu

Hello everyone, my name is Michael Chu. I'm a second year Computer engineering student. I was part of the communication committee -- LES photographer. I've realized many fun things we could do for LES and the student body, and lots of potential improvements for LES. And I would like to help and change it as Board At-Large.

Dauood Ahmad

Hello Lassonde! My name is Dauood Ahmad and I am a mechanical engineering student. I am running for Board at Large for the Lassonde Engineering Society (LES) and Engineering Delegate for Lassonde Student Congress (LSC).

As First Year Representative and Board Director, I've actively served our community since I arrived at York. I've demonstrated leadership by organizing an EngSoc Talks event to share insights from the First Year Integration Conference, demonstrating my ability to manage budgets and logistics, as well as by representing Lassonde at provincial conferences like the Conference on Advocacy and Leadership in Engineering. I'm committed to strong governance through my work on the Academic and Policy and Rules committees, and I've participated in key LES votes.

As Board at Large and Engineering Delegate, I will continue to advocate for you to LES, LSC, and the Lassonde Faculty ensuring a successful and growth filled academic journey.

Alireza Hakim

As your Engineering Delegate AND Board At Large, I will represent you DOUBLE. My previous year's experience in both of these roles has been nothing if not effective and informative, and I am excited to continue to represent and support the engineering student body.

I have lots of experience dealing with various parts of Lassonde, including the Engineering Society, Congress, and the Lassonde Faculty Council, in all of which I did my utmost to advocate for my fellow peers. Vote Ali if you're not a Silly Sally!

Engineering Delegate

Janae Grant

Hello my name is Janae Grant the current secretary of Finance for the Lassonde Student congress. I would like to take the knowledge and experiences that I have gained and use them to better the community of Lassonde for the benefit of all its students.

Ilham Fahim

Salutations Lassonde!

I’m Ilham Fahim, a first-year engineering student. I’m running to be your Engineering Delegate for the next year, and here’s why.

I am passionate about leadership, collaboration and a commitment to change, which I demonstrated as Head Prefect in high school. I represented over 1000 students, led initiatives and ensured students' voices were heard.

As your Engineering Senator, I’ll bring the same energy and dedication to representing what matters most, you. I will advocate for your needs to the Lassonde Student Congress and the Faculty directly if needed, to ensure your voices won’t go unheard.

But my real priority is to maintain an open environment for anyone to talk, settle issues and champion initiatives that better the Lassonde experience for all.

So lets work together to build a more innovative, united and confident Lassonde Community.

A vote for Ilham is a vote for everyone!
